Hey guys! I saw this tag over on Maggie’s blog and I thought it might be a fun thing to try. This is for my current work-in-progress (or WIP) I’ve been feeling pretty uninspired about it lately, so I figured making this post might help me out a bit.
I hope you like reading my answers!

Has your WIP a working title? If so, tell us! If not, have you any idea of what it might be?
Not really…okay, maybe I have a vague idea of what I’m calling it now. I want it to be summery, and sort of a song lyric, so currently I’m thinking Cruel Summer, but I’ll probably be changing this.
Have you a synopsis for your WIP? If so, give it to us! If not, can you give us a blurb on what your WIP is about?
Aly Stevens has dreams for a perfect summer. But when her dad decides that her family will spend the summer at their grandparents cabin in the mountains, she is devastated. Instead of spending the summer having fun with her friends, Aly will be forced to spend it with her siblings and her standoffish cousin Hadley. Soon, Aly learns that there’s more to Hadley then meets the eye.
Hadley and Aly, joined by their young aunt Alexis, decide to still complete Aly’s summer bucket list. Even though Aly won’t be completing it with her friends, she’s hopeful that she can still have a nice summer with new friends.
When Aly makes a shocking discovery, she must learn the true value of family relationships before it’s too late.
Have you a working/mock cover for your WIP? If so, show us! If not, have you an idea in mind?
Nope. I want something colorful and maybe an illustrated cover?
How did you get the idea for this story?
Honestly? I was just really stressed one night and I started writing. I didn’t know what. I sent my midnight messiness to a friend and she liked it? So that got the wheels turning in my mind and I decided to think up a plot for the scene I wrote.
How long do you think it will be? Is it longer or shorter than you thought it would be?
Probably about 50k. A full-fledged novel, but not too much longer.
Who’s your favourite character so far?
Is it bad if I say Hadley? She’s a lot like me, so I’m excited to see how she interacts with her environment.
What’s your favourite memory related to this WIP?
I don’t have a lot of memories related to this yet, but mostly just the feelings associated with this novel.
Any special person(s) who helped create it?
Well, it hasn’t exactly been written yet…haha!
What’s your favourite scene so far (if you can tell about it without spoilers!)?
Like I said, I’ve only written a couple scenes and they’re out of context. But I do really like the first scene I wrote!
Can you give us a snippet?
Sureeee…
“What’s wrong?” I scooted up next to her, pressing my shoulder to hers like we used to do when we were kids.
“Nothing,” she sighed. “Everything.”
Silver light glinted upon her distressed face. My heart twisted. I’d always looked up to her. From what I’d seen, she’d had the perfect life. She never had to worry about an annoying sibling yelling while she was trying to do her Algebra homework. She didn’t have to fight to gain her parent’s attention. Heck, she was graduated! She didn’t even have Algebra homework anymore. She might not have known it, but I’d been jealous of her for as long as I could remember. Her problems seemed so much simpler than my own.
“I can tell it’s something,” I sighed. “I know I’m only fifteen, but you can talk to me. I’m not a little kid anymore.”
Is the story still what you thought it would be or has it thrown you a couple curveballs?
Well I thought I’d have a bit more…I guess I thought that my second novel would be easier than the first? Or at least just as easy. So this one is definitely a lot harder than I’d expected.
Is there a Bible verse, poem, hymn, picture, or quote that helped shape this story?
No, but I do have this collage!

When and where have you done most of the writing so far?
Mostly at home…though I did write the first part of a scene at a hotel room!
Where do you get inspiration for this story?
Mostly just real-life events, whether things that happen to me or things I notice around me.
Are you a plotter or a pantser?
I used to be a pantser, but now I really like plotting!
Do you have a little ritual before you start writing?
Not really. I do typically put on some music though.
Are you thinking of publishing this story?
Probably not. But anything could happen!
What things have you learned while writing this story?
I’ve learned that motivation is a terrible thing to lose. I’ve also learned that I need to give myself breaks.

For nominations, I’d like to nominate everyone who has a current WIP!
