Hello friends!
It’s been a while since I’ve shared my book purchases. And, being me, I’ve bought quite a lot lately. Would you guys like to see?
One of my goals for 2022 was to reduce the number of books on my physical TBR. But I think the opposite has occurred. Oh well. At least I got good deals! Maybe 2023 will be my year?
Onto the books!
First up, I had three free book certificates from ThriftBooks that I got during a double points event. Sadly, ThriftBooks changed its policies to where you can only get one free book per order. *sighs* That means I had to either spend $15 or pay shipping…for these two I elected to pay the shipping costs. So technically I paid about $3 for these ‘free’ books? But oh well, I suppose I can’t really complain.
Anyway, I got the second book in the Remnant Chronicles by Mary E. Pearson and the third Legend book by Marie Lu. I haven’t read either of these yet, but I did really enjoy the first books in the series’s!
When my mom and I went to the beach, we went to Books-a-Million, which just so happens to be my favorite chain bookstore. I scoured the clearance rack, but I couldn’t find anything I wanted to buy. I mean…I couldn’t very well leave a bookstore without buying a book? Could you imagine the horror? So I went to the *gasp* regular price section. I found this one, which I’ve had my eye on for a while. I’ve actually looked for this one at a few used bookstores and I’ve been unsuccessful every time. So I didn’t mind paying full price, knowing that there weren’t a lot of cheaper options.
I have actually read this one by now, and I think I know why I couldn’t find it used. Because it’s that good! Elizabeth Lim did a great job with this one. I just…this is exactly the sort of book I aspire to write one day. And actually, now that I mention it…it did remind me a bit of Betrayal of Thorns. I mean…magical dresses anyone? Anyway, I highly recommend Spin the Dawn!
Okay, so I had another free book certificate. Yet this time, I didn’t want to pay for shipping. So the only logical choice was to spend an extra $9 to avoid spending $2 on shipping. Right??
Anyway, I picked Lovely War by Julie Berry as my free book and then A Spy in the House by Y.S. Lee and The Nutcracker by E.T.A. Hoffman to qualify for free shipping.
Now…do you see that yucky inky mess on the cover of The Nutcracker? That book was marked “good” condition by ThriftBooks. It looks like a child used it as a coloring book, and trust me, the inside isn’t much better. I hate complaining, but this just seemed a bit extreme. So I ended up emailing ThriftBooks to return the book and they fixed the matter very quickly. So I was a bit upset about the condition of the book, but ThriftBooks Customer Service is awesome.
Finally, we have my “splurge” haul. Once I finished with Spin the Dawn, I obviously had to buy the sequel. And I could save $4 if I got it from Book Outlet. The only problem? You have to spend $40 at Book Outlet to qualify for free shipping, and shipping is nearly $5.
so basically, I spent $35 to save $4
Anyway, I can’t be too upset about my splurge because I got mostly books I’m really excited to read soon. I’ve already read Unravel the Dusk by Elizabeth Lim, and I can’t wait to get to Rebel and Skyhunter by Marie Lu, A Dress for the Wicked by Autumn Krause, Love & Luck by Jenna Evans Welch, Luck of the Titanic by Stacey Lee, and Coral by Sara Ella.

Anyway…I realize I’ve got quite a few books over the past few months. Maybe I won’t buy any more until after Christmas? That would certainly help my struggling bookshelf. We shall see if I can do it.
Have you read any of these books? Let me know what you thought if so. Tell me in the comments what the last book you bought/were gifted was!

Ahhhh, Coral is amazing! Definitely one of my all time favorite books, I really must get a copy for myself at some point because it’s just so good. ❤ All of these books look really interesting!

Wow, that’s a cool book haul! I really enjoy reading what books others are buying and reading. I haven’t read any of these left, but I’ve heard of ‘Luck of the Titanic’ and ‘Coral’. I’d love to hear what you think of the books you’re reading!

Amazing book haul! I just finished the first book in Mary E. Pearson’s Remnant series this morning, and I am going to start the second book once my sister finishes it. Lovely War is an amazing book, and one of my favorite historical fictions! I’m excited to hear your thoughts on the book if you haven’t already read it!

Thank you! The Remnant Chronicles is such an awesome series, I’m assuming you liked it if you’re continuing the series?
I’m hoping to get to that one soon…I’ll let you know what I think of it!

Oo! Nice titles! I did not know the nutcracker was a book! Makes sense though, all good stories have to be books right?
I will defiantly look for spin the dawn!

Yeah! I think there are actually multiple versions of the book, but I went with one that a friend recommended. I’m excited to read it this holiday season.
Yes! That one is so good!

Hahaha I love your choices to help “save” money. XD That totally sounds like me!! Especially the part about going to a bookstore and having to buy a book. I mean, it’s a crime to go to a bookstore and NOT buy a book. XD All of these books look really good! I’ve been meaning to read Coral for a while now, but oh my very long TBR. XD I have GOT to go to Books-A-Million sometime. One of these days I am going to go… one day. XD The last book I bought was Until Leaves Fall in Paris by Sarah Sudin. I kept trying to check the book out at my library, but someone always beat me to it, so I decided to just buy it. XD

😂yup…the things we do to save money!
It is a crime to go into a bookstore and not buy a book! I’d hate to go to bookworm jail…
Oooh, we should buddy read Coral! Perhaps…
Yess you HAVE to go to Books-A-Million! When we went to the beach last time, we literally stayed at a hotel within walking distance to Books-a-Million😂
Ooh, I’ve never heard of that book before, but the title sounds awesome. And yup, that sounds familiar. Always best to just buy the book!😂

Hahaha, YES that is exactly right. LOL, I’m gonna use the bookworm jail excuse next time my fam is questioning my need to buy a book. XD *gasp* GIRL WE SHOULD!!!! I’ll check and see if my library has Coral!!! I KNOWWW. I really need to do that soon! AAAH GIRL THAT SOUNDS AMAZING!!!!! Yes, the book looks like it’s gonna be really awesome. I LOVED When Twilight Breaks from the same author, so I have high expectations. XD Yep, that’s totally right!
